Barrister, Justin McQuade, who appeared with John Browne of Hussey Fraser Solicitors, told the Court that Louise Butler was 26 years of age at the time of the accident.
Louise was cycling to work in Monkstown when an articulated lorry, which was turning left at traffic lights, struck her and her bicycle. Louise was taken to St. Vincent’s University Hospital, but later died of her injuries. A jury at the inquest returned a verdict of death by misadventure.
The matter proceeded, by agreement with the Defendant, through the Injuries Board process which had assessed compensation of €25,394.76 for mental distress and €12,510.75 for fees and funeral expenses. Judge Groarke approved the compensation award and expressed the Court’s deep sympathy to the family on their tragic loss.
